Donbass Arena - Donetsk

Donbass Arena of Shakthar Donetsk opened its doors last weekend.

Almost all UEFA VIPs were there.

I like Shakthar. I used to play with them in Football Manager before when most people did not hear of them.

They won the UEFA Cup i helped organising.

Lucescu won Galatasaray a Super Cup and a Championship.

However this great temple of football is too much. There are not many hotels in the city and Ukraine has trouble filling the stadiums already. Anyway a nice step forward for Ukranian football and Shakthar Donetsk.

The Arnolfini Marriage

Jan Van Eyck, one of the greatest artists of his time, drew this painting in 1434.

It is one of the first paintings with a signature on. He wrote "Jan Van Eyck was here" on top of the mirror in which we can see the artist as well.

I really like this painting. Not only because it is brilliant but also the symbolism it uses and the questions it raise.

For instance is the lady in the painting pregnant or not? If yes a baby conceived before marriage should have been sinful. What does the dog symbolise? Faithfulness? Or just an ordinary dog. What about the candle? Is it the light of god? Why only one candle? What about the two pairs of slippers?

If a painting depicting such an ordinary scene makes us ask questions after 575 years than for me it really is a piece of art.

The Fourth Kind - Trailer

The Fourth Kind starring Milla Jovovich is an alien abduction movie based on actual case studies.

The trailer seems pretty interesting, hopefully the movie will be good as well. Jovovich was not around since the last Resident Evil movie. It is nice to see her back in action.

The events take place in Alaska and the victims of abductions gave all their statements under hypnosis. As you can see in the trailer there is a  disturbance warning by Jovovich. The scenes of the movies are shot based upon the real footage from abduction interviews.

Milla Jovovich stars in The Fourth Kind
